Snap 2007 Installation

Step 1: Preparing Internet Explorer for SNAP:

Refer to the “Preparing Internet Explorer for SNAP” section of the student User Guide on page 4. You can download the Student User Guide here: http://snap2007.emcp.com/file.php/1/docs/Student_Users_Guide.pdf.

*Before completing the steps below please verify that you are using Internet Explorer 32 Bit and not Internet Explorer 64 Bit. For more information please see the SNAP 2007 System Requirements.

In order to view SNAP in Internet Explorer, you must:

  1. Disable pop-up blocking software.
  2. Allow any firewalls installed on your computer to transfer data between your computer and http://snap2007.emcp.com.
  3. In Internet Explorer, click Tools on the File Menu, and then click Internet Options.
  4. Click the Security tab.
  5. Click Trusted Sites.
  6. Uncheck “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone” checkbox, then add http://www.snap2007.emcp.com/ as a trusted site via the Sites button.

If you have Internet Explorer 8, please take the following steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Click Compatibility View Settings.
  4. Type http://emcp.com in the Add the website text box.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Click Close.

Step 2: Download & Install the XStream.exe Snap Simulation Plug-in:

  1. Start Internet Explorer and navigate the browser to the SNAP home page and click Downloads, or click this link http://snap2007.emcp.com/snap/downloads.php
  2. Click on Download the XStream.exe Snap Simulation Plug-in.
  3. Save the Plug-in (xstream.exe file) to your desktop.
  4. Close Internet Explorer when done downloading.
  5. Go to your desktop and double-click on the Xstream.exe icon and click “Run”, then click “Agree” for the license. When the install window disappears, the installation is complete. (Some users may have to “allow” the install, others may need to select “the program has installed successfully.”)
  6. Return to Snap by clicking here http://snap2007.emcp.com/login/login.php and log in.
  7. Look for the add-on install toolbar\row on the top of the page (see picture below where it states “The previous webpage might require the following add-on: ‘Xstream Media Player’ from ‘Knowledge Quest’. Click here to allow it to run…”) you will need to click this bar to complete the installation (you may also need to select “Allow to run on this website”).
  8. Snap is now ready to use!
