Minimum System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7
  • Web Browsers: Internet Explorer 6, 7 or higher (32-bit version only), to use IE8 and higher please set IE to Compatibility Mode for IE7
  • Any pop-up blocking software disabled
  • Flash 7 or higher plug-in installed
  • Scripting and cookies enabled
  • Configured to download and run signed ActiveX controls and plug-ins
  • Security: Firewall(s) must be configured to allow data transfer to and from http://www.snap2007.emcp.com
  • Screen Resolution: 1024×768 (or higher) with 16-bit color
  • Audio: Any Windows-compatible soundcard for audio during tutorials
  • Document Assessments: Requires Microsoft Office 2007

Snap 2007 Installation

Step 1: Preparing Internet Explorer for SNAP:

Refer to the “Preparing Internet Explorer for SNAP” section of the student User Guide on page 4. You can download the Student User Guide here: http://snap2007.emcp.com/file.php/1/docs/Student_Users_Guide.pdf

In order to view SNAP in Internet Explorer, you must:

  1. Disable pop-up blocking software.
  2. Allow any firewalls installed on your computer to transfer data between your computer and http://snap2007.emcp.com.
  3. In Internet Explorer, click Tools on the File Menu, and then click Internet Options.
  4. Click the Security tab.
  5. Click Trusted Sites.
  6. Uncheck “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone” checkbox, then add http://www.snap2007.emcp.com/ as a trusted site via the Sites button.

If you have Internet Explorer 8 or 9, please take the following steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Click Compatibility View Settings.
  4. Type http://emcp.com in the Add the website text box.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Click Close.

If you have Internet Explorer 10, please take the following steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click F12 on your keyboard to open developer tools.
  3. Click browser mode on the bottom of your screen.
  4. Select Internet Explorer 7 from the drop down list.
  5. Click F12 again to close the developer tools window.

If you have Internet Explorer 11, please take the following steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click F12 on your keyboard to open developer tools.
  3. Click document mode on the bottom of your screen.
  4. Select Internet Explorer 7 from the drop down list.
  5. Click F12 again to close the developer tools window.

Step 2: Download & Install the XStream.exe Snap Simulation Plug-in:

In order to run SNAP tutorials or skill exams on your computer, the Xstream Media Player needs to be installed. This is a one-time installation.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Click the link below that says Download the Xstream Media Player.
  2. Save the Xstream.exe to your desktop.
  3. Close the download dialog box and your browser. Both of these steps are important. The install will not write over any files that are held open by the browser.
  4. Go to your desktop, double-click the Xstream icon, and click Run.
  5. At the Xstream Media License Agreement, click Agree; when the window disappears the installation is complete. Vista users may need to select "the program has installed successfully".
  6. Return to SNAP by clicking here http://snap2007.emcp.com/login/login.php and log in.
  7. Look for the add-on install toolbar\row on the top of the page (see picture below where it states “The previous webpage might require the following add-on: ‘Xstream Media Player’ from ‘Knowledge Quest’. Click here to allow it to run…”) you will need to click this bar to complete the installation (you may also need to select “Allow to run on this website”).
  8. Snap is now ready to use!

You must use Internet Explorer 6, 7, or 8 to run SNAP and the Xstream Media Player.  SNAP 2007 is not compatible with 64-bit Internet Explorer.
