Sage 50 Accounting – 2013

Computerized Accounting with Sage 50® 2013 teaches all key accounting software skills supported in the 2013 version of the Sage 50® software. In addition, it covers the accounting concepts associated with each chapter. Detailed step-by-step explanations followed by hands-on exercises provide students the opportunity to practice using the program features immediately after learning about them. A variety of end-of-chapter exercises help ensure mastery of the key course content.

After completing Computerized Accounting with Sage 50® 2013, students will be able to create a company file, run accounts receivable and accounts payable, manage time-tracking and payroll, track inventory, manage budgets, maintain ledgers and journals, and create reports.

Multi-User

  • Multi-user environments are supported in Sage 50 Complete Accounting and higher
  • Multi-user mode is optimized for Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008 client-server networks, and Windows XP/Vista/7 peer-to-peer networks
  • A maximum of five licensed named users are allowed. A named user account is granted a license when selected in the user maintenance screen
Students must register with Sage to receive a serial number. Go to http://www.sage.com/us/about-us/education-instructor to register as explained on p. xii of the textbook’s preface.  The student registration and download section is located in the center of the page of the page between the Educators and Employers sections. Click the Learn More button to navigate to the student registration page. Clicking on the Register Now button will allow you contact Sage and request a serial number. Once registered, students can download the software from either of two places:
  1. Student resources CD packaged with the textbook
  2. Sage website (under step 2)
How do I access my company files from within Sage?
  • When accessing the company files from your student data files CD that comes with Sage, you must first copy the CD files to a location on your computer.
    • Once you are in the Sage software, click on File>New Company. You will see the company files with which you have worked so far, but you will click on “Browse” on the right side of the dialog box.
    • You then will go to the location where you have stored your company files and open them.
How do I register my Sage software?
  • Sage recently changed some features of their website and the new link to register your Sage software is here: http://na.sage.com/us/about-us/education. Scroll down to the “For students” area to register your software.You will then be sent the serial number/activation code via email.

Why won’t my company files open?
  • Please make sure that you are opening the files within the Sage software; they are not able to be manually opened.
I am trying to access my company files from the CD, but I am receiving an error. How do I access the files?
  • The Sage company files cannot be accessed directly from the CD; they need to be copied from the CD to a location on your computer’s hard disk. This will then allow you to access them without any errors.
How do I add a company file from the student data files to Sage?
  • From the dialog box where your existing company files already are, please follow these steps:
  • Click “Browse”. This will pull up a list of all the files on your computer.
  • Navigate to the location where you saved the company files from the CD.
  • Open the company file that you need and it will populate within the Sage software.
I do not have a student data files CD, or it is lost or damaged. How do I access the files? How do I register my Sage 50 software? I am being asked for a serial number. I have a question regarding licensing.
