Minimum System Requirements

  • Processor: Intel Celeron 600 MHz or higher
  • Operating System: Windows XP, Windows 2000 (SP4), Windows Vista, Windows 7
    • NOTE: Keyboarding in the Medical Office courses only work in Windows 2000 or Windows XP
  • Web Browser: Internet Explorer 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10
    • not compatible with 64-bit Internet Explorer
    • Reporting function is not compatible with Internet Explorer 9
  • Web Browser Settings: Scripting and cookies enabled
  • Any pop-up blocking software disabled
  • Configured to download and run signed ActiveX controls and plug-ins
  • Security: Firewall(s) must be configured to allow data transfer to and from
  • Screen Resolution: 800 x 600 (or greater) with16-bit color
  • User Privileges for Installing ActiveX Control (first time only):
    • Administrative privileges are required to install the ActiveX control for the first time.

To ensure that SNAP Keyboarding can communicate with your computer:

  1. At the top of your browser window click Tools.
  2. Click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Click Trusted Sites.
  5. Add as a trusted site via the Sites button. You may have to uncheck the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone checkbox.

Note: If you have a third-party firewall software program, such as Norton Protection Center, you will need to set it to allow data transfer between and your computer. Consult your product’s Help menu for instructions.

To enable scripts and cookies in Internet Explorer, take the following steps:

  1. At the top of your browser window click Tools
  2. Click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Privacy tab.
  4. Select Medium on the Privacy slider.
  5. Click OK.

To ensure that Active X controls and plug-ins are enabled in Internet Explorer, take the following steps:

  1. At the top of your browser window click Tools
  2. Click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Security Tab.
  4. Set the Security level for this zone to Medium.
  5. Click the Custom level button and verify the settings of the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section are set as outlined below:
  • Allow Previously unused ActiveX controls to run w/o prompt: Enable
  • Allow Scriptlets: Disable
  • Automatic Prompting for ActiveX controls: Disable
  • Binary and script behaviors: Enable
  • Download signed ActiveX controls: Prompt
  • Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting: Disable
  • Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins: Enable
  • Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting: Enable

Paradigm Keyboarding Engine Plug-In

When you run a keyboarding exercise on your machine for the first time, an Active X plug-in is automatically downloaded and installed on your machine. This is a one-time installation. If your security settings do not allow you to install an Active X plug-in then you can download the EXE file and install it on your machine. You will need administrator privileges to install it.

Download the file and double-click to install the Paradigm Keyboarding Engine plug-in.
